Reimbursement for rTMS treatment of depression in the Netherlands
The treatment of therapy resistant depressions with repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in combination with cognitive behavioral therapy is eligible for reimbursement in The Netherlands since 2017. However, specific Dutch guidelines for rTMS are not available. The Dutch organisation Stiching Hersenstimulatie and the Nederlandse Kenniscentrum Angst en Depressie (NedKAD) collaborated to draft a consensus statement (in Dutch). This consensus statement covers subjects such as stimulation parameters, stimulation locations, safety and side effects, and the orientation of the TMS coil.
